The Black Eco Chamber’s Final Workshop for the 2022-2023 Season

Last Saturday we celebrated the final Black Eco Chamber workshop of the 2022-2023 season, presented by Shyan Selah and Brave New World Enterprises. Our organization has been proud to present this empowering event series dedicated to uplifting and empowering Black businesses and entrepreneurs.

The final workshop was a culmination of the Black Economic Chamber’s pilot season—a groundbreaking endeavor focused on fostering economic growth and sustainability within the Black community. Held at the Courtyard Marriott in Federal Way, which has served as the home base for all workshops, this final workshop recapped key information regarding business funding and the basics around franchising.

The event included presentations by our dynamic founder, Shyan Selah, who emphasized the significance of having an enduring mindset and a passionate spirit in fostering economic empowerment for the black community and putting black entrepreneurs and businesses in a position to thrive.

Selah was joined by Executive Vice President of Brave New World Enterprises and Black Eco Chamber event producer, Candice Richardson, and the Sr. Vice President and Sales Manager of Evergreen Business Capital, Lori Milton, who spoke at length about SBA loan options with a special emphasis on her speciality: SBA’s 504 Commercial Real Estate Loan, as well as SBA guidelines for Franchising.

Throughout the entire pilot season, our participants were treated to a diverse range of workshops designed to provide practical tools, resources, and insights for success. These sessions covered essential topics such as entrepreneurship, marketing strategies, funding opportunities, networking, and building sustainable business models.

One of the cornerstones of the Black Economic Chamber is fostering connections and collaboration. This was illustrated in our quarterly networking mixers, including April’s Spring Networking Mixer held at the Twin Lakes Golf and Country Club which was attended by the Deputy Director of the White House’s Initiative for Black Education, Equity, and Excellence, Larry Bowden. This past weekend’s final workshop continued the tradition of providing a dynamic networking environment, enabling entrepreneurs to forge meaningful relationships, share insights, and explore potential partnerships with attendees exchanging ideas, forming alliances, and expanding their professional networks.

As we continue to plan for next season’s workshop series, Brave New World Enterprises has pledge to continue to assist Black Eco Chamber members with a comprehensive range of tools and services, including notice and access to funding opportunities, mentorship programs, legal guidance, and marketing assistance. We will continue to provide you with monthly newsletters on how you can continue to grow your business. Please be sure that you’re signed up as a member to receive communications from us during the off-season.

We wish all of our members a happy summer and we look forward to seeing you all again in the fall when we eagerly anticipate the continued growth and impact of the Black Economic Chamber, shaping a future of economic empowerment and prosperity for Black entrepreneurs.
